Six Sigma projects assign roles to members of an organization. This structure is essential to implement Six Sigma projects across the organization. Six Sigma projects won’t necessarily bring about improvement in a business. Six Sigma projects should align with the goals of a Business System and Organizational goals. Six Sigma projects should align with the organization’s short-term and long-term goals. Six Sigma projects are selected based on the organization’s goals.
Six Sigma Projects Selection
Six Sigma Project Selection Group is made up of Master Black Belts and Black Belts, Champions, Key Executives and Champions. It establishes a set criteria for Six Sigma project selection and assigns team assignments. The nature of the project may influence the selection of the Six Sigma team. A Six Sigma team may be assigned to projects that require extensive data analysis. If the project is about setting a quality standard, it might be given to a quality assurance group. Design for Six Sigma projects also known as Design for Six Sigma products, should be followed when designing new products/processes.

Six Sigma project selection: Financial metrics are crucial
It is important to assign financial metrics to the project’s outcome during the selection phase. Financial metrics include return on investment (ROI), profit growth, cost reduction, and so forth. Further selection of a project is possible by calculating the expected profit from Six Sigma projects. The expected profit is the sum of profit and the probability of success.

The Six Sigma Projects should be selected in accordance with the entire system. Six Sigma Projects should consider the impact of proposed changes on other systems processes. Any improvement in one process in a Business System should not result in the reduction of optimization in other processes.
Responsibilities in Six Sigma Projects
There are seven responsibilities. We will go over each one one-by-one.
Leadership
The Six Sigma Council, or leadership team, defines the Six Sigma process’s goals and objectives. The Six Sigma Council sets the goals for the team, just as a corporate leader sets the tone and course to achieve a goal. Here’s a list of leadership qualities.

Council Responsibilities:
Define the purpose of the Six Sigma Program
Describe how the customer will benefit from the result
Establish a work schedule and set interim deadlines
Create a system for oversight and review
Support team members and defend existing positions

Sponsor
Six Sigma sponsors are high-ranking individuals who are knowledgeable about Six Sigma and are committed towards its success. The sponsor is responsible for solving problems in the Six Sigma project. Six Sigma will be supervised by an executive vice president or full-time champion. Six Sigma sponsors are people who own processes and systems and help coordinate improvement activities in their respective areas.
Implementation Leader
The person responsible to supervise the Six Sigma team effort.
