The world has changed. This is why? Smartsheet transforms your work.

Here’s how you can start the discussion about SMART projects goals:
Client: I would like more leads and better brand recognition.
Me: Those are some incredible goals!
Also me: Hey Team! Now that we have the goals, we can set the project goals.
My team: *groan* Okay ….
Where can you go from there?
This is what I will show you in this post. I’ll give you a quick overview of all things project objectives.
What are the Project Objectives
Why are project goals important?

What are the Project Objectives
A project objective is a statement about what your project will achieve. The tangible and quantifiable “what”. The “what” that’s achievable, realistic, and feasible within the given time frame. These statements are a great way to get your project off the ground.
Why are project goals important?
Clear and concise project objectives can help you make decisions throughout the project’s lifetime. They communicate the purpose of the project in simple and tangible terms.
Setting clear goals for projects, just like personal goals, is an important step to moving from where you are now to where you want to be.
Have you ever set a New Year’s resolution to “be healthier”? What were your results? This goal will be much more achievable and measurable if we add details. This is an example:
For four months, I will be going to the gym at least 3 times per week, either alone or with a group.
Or
I will eat home-cooked meals for two months, four to seven times a week.
It is important that all stakeholders agree to clearly define project objectives. These objectives must be established at the beginning of a project. These objectives will be referenced throughout project life cycle. This applies to scrumfall, agile, and wagile as well as all other project methodologies. These tools are used by project managers throughout a project to ensure that we do the right thing for our client and our projects.
CYA (Cover Your Ass) can be used to help you set project goals if the client chooses not to work for you. CYA can also be helped by a well-written Statement of work.
Project Goals vs. Project Objectives – Are They the Same Thing
The short answer is no
While they are closely related, the goals or objectives serve different purposes. A project goal is often a high-level goal set by a business. It is how they allocate budget funds and drive a project. The overall project picture is the objective. A connect-the-dot diagram is an example. The objectives are the numbers, while the goals are the dots. These objectives will help you determine the project’s end result and specific deliverables.
Here are some examples:

How to identify the best project objectives
While it is important to set objectives, the key to project management success lies in setting the right objectives.
If your internal dialogue is like that, you are doing it right.
Is it really worth increasing pageviews by 20%? Is it better for quality leads to be increased by 5 percent?
Is it the right time?
