The (informal!) Prerequisites
The CCNP Collaboration exam does not require any formal preparation. Cisco recommends that candidates have at least 3 to 5 years experience in implementing collaboration solutions. If you have been working at the CCNA level for a while, a CCNP can be the next logical step. If you are a complete beginner in networking, the CCNP is probably not the right time.

The Money Question: How much do CCNPs earn?
We’ve said it before and we’ll repeat it again: Take certification salary statistics with a grain-of-salt Certifications are only one part of the equation. Your experience, education, industry, job title, and negotiation skills all impact the salary you can earn. Consequently, a statistic such as CCNP salary won’t likely have all the information necessary to determine what salary you can expect. They can only give rough estimates and approximate figures.
Let’s now discuss CCNP salaries. While the amount of money you can make is important, it is not the only aspect to consider when asking “Is the CCNP worth it?” PayScale reports that the average annual CCNP salary in the United States is $96,112. If you have years of experience in network engineering and add the CCNP, this salary or higher might be acceptable. If you don’t have any experience and only a CCNP you are unlikely to make it.

The job titles of CCNP certification holders are not necessarily the same as their salaries.
